Maine Lit Fest Fellowship

Ends on

Maine Lit Fest Fellowships: The Maine Lit Fest Fellows will play a vital role in planning, promoting, and hosting the Maine Lit Fest, scheduled for the October 1-9, 2026. Lit Fest Fellows will connect outreach and spread the word about Lit Fest authors, drum up interest, and invite community members to participate. Fellows may also provide input into festival presenters and events and help host and coordinate smaller community-based events during and/or leading up to the Maine Lit Fest. Each fellow will receive a $1,500 stipend for around 60 hours of work over the course of the planning period.

Expectations/Time Commitment (for Portland-Based Fellows):

  • February – June 2026: Fellows will participate in monthly planning meetings via Zoom (4 hrs/mo.).
  • July – September 2026: Fellows will conduct in-person and virtual outreach to targeted communities (4-8 hrs/mo.).
  • October 2026: Fellows will play an active role in Lit Fest production and may help transport guest authors, introduce panels/events, and ensure logistics run smoothly (15-22 hrs).

Criteria:  MWPA will choose fellows based on the promise of their creative work, their leadership qualities, community participation, and life experience. In selecting Lit Fest Fellows, MWPA will seek to assemble a group of fellows that is diverse in terms of race, ethnicity, and gender identification and who are emerging writers and leaders.
